If you haven’t heard of Toronto’s shoegazer-punk outfit, Dearly Beloved, it certainly isn’t for a lack of effort. The band has been working almost non-stop for the last couple of years which has included European, Canadian and US tours. An ep release. And add a few videos to the mix.
I had the luxury of having the band play for Indie Week in Ireland in 2013 and not only got to see the band perform but I also really got to know the band – great people with a dream driven by passion and no signs of stopping.
Their sound is unique with the dual male/female fronted vocals supported by an intense overdriven bass provided by Rob Higgins that leads the songs into a hot sweaty mess. A good hot sweaty mess. This is what rock n rolls should be…..is. Rock n roll these days is unfortunately a very safe environment which goes against everything rock n roll is meant to be. Dearly Beloved are bringing back the rawness, unpredictable, and that feeling of danger back to the stage where it belongs. You can not help but pay attention at a Dearly Beloved show.
The band is currently seeing results of their hard work as they have been able to tour Europe, Canada, record at the infamous Rancho de la Luna, and they are now set to perform at Toronto’s NXNE. There are also plans of a tour of Europe (Scotland, Ireland, UK, France, Germany, Holland) in the fall.
If you are into honest rock n roll with a punk rock heart, go see this band!
